Artist Opportunities
As the elder of Australian contemporary dance, we take the next generation seriously.
Alongside artist development opportunities at LOFT, we provide a range of artist and sector development initiatives throughout the year to supercharge (South) Australian talent through a range of residencies, workshops and masterclasses, and opportunities for young/ emerging artists.
Our program is designed to empower a new wave of talent by creating a direct link between our artistry and cutting-edge independent practice.

Classes are an essential part of a dancer’s routine and fitness regimen. ADT’s morning classes are offered free to professional independent dancers in Adelaide. These give artists the opportunity to maintain and extend their practice alongside our full-time ensemble, while also keeping connected with the company.
Artists are encouraged to arrive early to sign-in before heading into the studio.
Check our socials each Sunday for our weekly class schedule. Please note, our free class schedule is subject to availability.
TREAD is a performance ensemble of dance artists aged 15 – 25 based in Adelaide. Working with professional independent and company artists, TREAD dancers are introduced to cutting-edge techniques, company repertoire and methodology and the processes of improvising and devising new work.
Watch this space for updates on the program.
ADT:RAW is a rapid-fire dance catalyst that gives artists the opportunity to participate in the fast and furious development of new ideas, before bringing them to an audience.
Artists are given $300 and three hours in the studio before they step onstage for a ten-minute showing in front of a packed house.
We hosted our first ADT:RAW in 2024, which saw Alix Kuijpers, Of Desert and Sea Collective, Samuel Harnett-Welk, Kinetik Collective, Zoë Dunwoodie, Rikki Wilson, Gabrielle Nankivell, Alison Currie and Sol Ulbrich, and Jenni Large bring new works to the stage.
ADT:RAW will return. Keep your eye on our socials for an open call.
We offer tertiary dance students in their final year the opportunity for a week of immersion with the company. This gives emerging the opportunity to not only build connections with our artists and team, but gain insight into the workings of a professional dance company, interfacing with all sides of our operations.
Due to the company’s touring schedule, we won’t be offering a full week of secondment in 2025. However, we are thrilled to host artists where possible.
In 2025, we were thrilled to welcome students from NAISDA Dance College to ADT for a week of learning, development and creative development. Working with Company Artists and GROUNDswell Resident Carly Sheppard, students were introduced to our repertoire, training methodologies and the ideas at the centre of our practice.
Alongside dancers from NAISDA, we were thrilled to welcome Adelaide/ Kaurna based First Nations artists into the space during the week.
Our First Nations Intensive is supported by the Cybec Foundation
