The Company

Under the directorship of Garry Stewart, Australian Dance Theatre creates dance that is an intelligent progression of the art form engaging audiences the world over.

Australian Dance Theatre is Australia’s pre-eminent contemporary dance company and the longest running in the country. For over 50 years Australian Dance Theatre has pioneered new work that has contributed to defining dance in this region.

Some of the most laudable names in Australian dance have been part of the company’s evolution. For the past 20 years, under the artistic direction of Garry Stewart, Australian Dance Theatre has engaged in unique collaborations with artists from a wide variety of fields. With the dancers of the company, Garry Stewart has developed a distinctive movement vocabulary that underpins the company’s unique identity.

Applications are now open for the 2015 Secondment Week at Australian Dance Theatre.This program culminates in a rare opportunity for students to audition for Australia’s most challenging dance company.

As one of the first of its kind in Australia  it remains an unparalleled opportunity for students to join an elite professional dance ensemble for a unique one-week intensive training experience including:

  • Tumbling, choreographic tasking and stage craft
  • Current company repertoire
  • Audition technique
  • Forums on related topics such as professional life, nutrition and marketing

6 out of the 9 dancers in Australian Dance Theatre’s current professional ensemble were recruited from an ADT Secondment Week. 

The 2014 Secondment Week booked out in record time so don’t miss out on the 2015 Secondment Week from 10 – 14 August at ADT’s studios in Hawthorn (Adelaide).

COST:

$300/student.

Places are extremely limited.
Open to tertiary dance students & recent graduates.
