ADT welcome Lee Brummer and Israel Aloni from ilDance as guest teachers this month

Monday, May 11, 2015

Australian Dance Theatre are delighted to welcome to the studios Lee Brummer and Israel Aloni, Artistic Directors and founders of Swedish based contemporary dance company, ilDance.

Lee  and Israel are in Adelaide as choreographic mentors for a four week Dance Residency program at the Mill Adelaide. They will be taking ADT’s morning company classes in contemporary this month. These classes are open to professional independent dancers – more info here.

ilDance is an independent international contemporary dance company and a production coordinating collective based in Gothenburg, Sweden. Lee and Israel founded the company with a humble belief in the diversity of methods and ways to produce and create contemporary performing arts.

They aspire to bind local and global dance communities, relate independent artists and large institutions and deepen the connections between the professional dance world and the education of future generations.

As well as producing original creations by Israel and Lee, ilDance produces various other events and productions in which they collaborate with local and international partners.

Lee’s work is driven and inspired by her interest in psychology, sociology, human patterns and behaviour. She explores the meeting point between these worlds and the worlds of physical theatre and contemporary dance.

Israel’s work is boundary breaking and passionate. It creates a captivating experience for both the performers and the audience. By advancing his sophisticated movement language, intertwining theatrical elements and occasionally text, Aloni manages to interact with the public’s emotions and psychic.

Australian Dance Theatre are thrilled to have such inspiring guest teachers at the studio this month. They will also be speaking at the Choreographic Futures in partnership with Rough Draft event, hosted by ADT and the Mill Adelaide on Friday May 29th at the ADT studios.
