The Company

Under the directorship of Garry Stewart, Australian Dance Theatre creates dance that is an intelligent progression of the art form engaging audiences the world over.

Australian Dance Theatre is Australia’s pre-eminent contemporary dance company and the longest running in the country. For over 50 years Australian Dance Theatre has pioneered new work that has contributed to defining dance in this region.

Some of the most laudable names in Australian dance have been part of the company’s evolution. For the past 18 years, under the artistic direction of Garry Stewart, Australian Dance Theatre has engaged in unique collaborations with artists from a wide variety of fields. With the dancers of the company, Garry Stewart has developed a distinctive movement vocabulary that underpins the company’s unique identity.

Booking and registration must be made via MINDBODY.  To register and pay for a class – click here OR do this by using the smart phone app. Click the button below to download.

2018 Class Dates

Classes run consistently from 12th February 2018 until Sunday 16th December. Classes are subject to change, due to Theatre hires from time to time.  Please check for updates on the Mindbody schedule.

Conditions of Enrolment

Adult Dance Classes and Short Courses are strictly for adults aged 18 and over.

Before attending a dance class at Australian Dance Theatre, participants must provide us with their full name, phone number and email address.

Teachers and Classes are subject to change.  Australian Dance Theatre reserves the right to make amendments to its classes without prior notice or to cancel a class. Australian Dance Theatre will endeavour to notify participants of any class changes through its social media.  Substitute teachers will be noted on the Mindbody App.

Australian Dance Theatre reserves the right to refuse participation as permitted by law or to request a participant to leave a class if they are disruptive, late or have not paid for the class.

Australian Dance Theatre does not allow any person to watch class from inside the studio due to safety and security reasons. Any person inside the studio at the time of a class must be participating in that class.

The teacher reserves the right to recommend the correct level of class for participants as they see fit.

Payment

Classes must be paid for upfront, before class starts, via our website or the Mindbody App.

Currently Australian Dance Theatre does not offer concession prices for classes.

Refunds

All purchases of Class Passes and Course fees are final, non-refundable, not transferable, not extendable and cannot be shared. 10 Class Passes are valid for admission into the Adult Dance Classes and are valid for 3 months from the date of purchase.  Single Class Passes are valid for admission into the Adult Dance Classes and are valid for 1 month from the date of purchase.  Fees for Short Courses are only valid for the dates selected when booking.

Australian Dance Theatre is unable to offer refunds for any paid classes or courses unless the program is cancelled by Australian Dance Theatre.  Australian Dance Theatre may provide an extension or refund for unexpired/unused classes on a multi-class pass if you cannot attend classes due to medical reasons.  The cancellation request should be accompanied by appropriate verification ie. medical certificate

Photography & videography

Participants are not permitted to take photos or videos during class.

Australian Dance Theatre may take and use photographs and videos of participants for promotional and archival purposes only. All material recorded during any program is the copyright of Australian Dance Theatre. Participants can elect to not have their photo or video used by Australian Dance Theatre School by emailing adt@adt.org.au or phoning 08- 83737733.

Attire

Non-restrictive dance/active wear is the recommended dress for students.

Canvas Ballet flats for ballet classes; bare feet or cotton socks for Contemporary classes; jazz shoes or sneakers for Jazz & Hip Hop.

Water

Please bring a bottle of water to class.

Facilities

Public toilets are located in the foyer of the Odeon Theatre.  Showers are not available.

Mobile phones

Mobile phones must be switched to silent prior to the commencement of class. If you have special circumstances please discuss with the Teacher prior to your class.

Lost property

Please take all your valuables in to the studio with you and remember to collect all of your belongings after class. Australian Dance Theatre cannot take responsibility for anything left behind in the studio, foyer or any other part of the building. To check on any lost property please contact Australian Dance Theatre during business hours on 08-83737733.

Warm-up

Please arrive on time for class.  Entry to the class more than 10 minutes after the start time is prohibited, as you have missed the warm-up.
