Elizabeth Old

Elizabeth was born in London, England. She trained in Adelaide at the Centre for Performing Arts and joined the Australian Dance Theatre in 1984. She moved to Europe to join Rambert Dance Company in 1987 where she danced until 2001. She also spent 2 years with Siobhan Dance Company during this time.

During her time at Rambert, Elizabeth created many new roles including the lead in Javier De Frutos' The Celebrated Soubrette. She was one of four dancers selected to travel to New York to work with Trisha Brown on Opal Loop. In 2003 she mounted The Celebrated Soubrette for the Royal New Zealand Ballet.

Elizabeth was the Artistic Director of the London-based Isleworth Festival's dance programs for three years. During that time she commissioned several site specific works and worked as the festival administrator.She was the manager of one of Britain's leading contemporary string quartets, The Smith Quartet, for two years.

Elizabeth studied law at King's College London and has a certificate in Legal method from the University of London.

As a dance critic for the magazine Dance Europe since 1994 she covered London's dance festivals, Spring Loaded and Dance Umbrella. She is also a published poet.

Elizabeth teaches contemporary dance and taught regularly for Rambert Dance Company, The Rambert School, and The Central School of Ballet London. She also worked for OFSTED as an inspector on the Dance and Drama Award scheme.

From 2004 to 2006 Elizabeth has worked assisting the artistic director of Rambert Dance Company in the role of Artistic Coordinator. She joined ADT in December 2006 and became the Associate Artistic Director in December 2007.
